Automate 2019

  • McCormick Place 2301 South King Drive Chicago, IL, 60616 United States (map)

Southwest Research Institute and the SwRI-based ROS-Industrial team will be exhibiting at Automate 2019 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL. Please consider visiting the exhibit and experience an interactive demonstration of advanced robotics capabilty, as well as interact with those seeking to advance industrial automation leveraging open-source tools.

The SwRI exhibit will include an interactive Scan-N-Plan Demonstration that leverages a new industrial TSDF mesh generation capability, as well as showcasing Tesseract and TrajOpt all running on ROS2. The intent is to highlight the ability of the solution to manage a uniquely, never before seen part, that has features that have historcially been difficult for sensors to create sound meshes for path planning.

The visitor will have the opportunity to create a unique form, and present it to the system which will reconstructe the form and then manipulate the metal ring around the form without contacting the ring to the metal form. Then the visitor will be prompted to pick up a wand and attempt to beat the robot's execution time, while again, not contacting the form.

We hope this conveys the ability to work with unique, lot size of one, parts/assemblies, leveraging hardware agnostic tools, that give the end-user a number of options for optimization of their solution.

SwRI will be at Booth #8214
